Development history

The Brummbar was the answer to Stalingrad-style urban fighting: a Panzer IV chassis carrying a short 150 mm howitzer in a heavily armoured casemate, able to demolish a fortified house with one round. It debuted at Kursk and fought in Italy, at Anzio, in Warsaw during the 1944 uprising and in the defence of Germany. Heavy nose armour overloaded the front suspension, and the early versions had no machine gun, leaving crews helpless against infantry until later models added one.
