Development history
Bought from J. Walter Christie's designs and reworked at Kharkov, the BT-2 introduced the big-wheel Christie suspension and convertible drive that defined the whole BT line and, through it, the T-34. Early vehicles suffered from hasty production, shortage of 37 mm guns and unreliable transmissions, and crews found the wheeled mode of limited use off good roads. Surviving BT-2s were used for training and fought in 1941 around Leningrad.
