Development history
The Covenanter was designed for a low silhouette, which forced the radiators to the front of the hull, away from the engine. The plumbing that resulted overheated in any climate, and no amount of redesign fixed it. Declared unfit for tropical service, the entire production run stayed in Britain for training, bridging and driver instruction, with some passed to Australian and Czechoslovak units in the UK. It is the clearest example of British wartime tank procurement going wrong.
