Development history
Montreal Locomotive Works, which had built the Ram, turned to Sherman production as the Grizzly, differing from the American M4A1 chiefly in its Canadian Dry Pin track and small fitting changes. Only 188 were completed before it became clear that US factories could supply all the Shermans the Commonwealth needed, and most Grizzlies served as training tanks in Canada or later with Portugal. It is the Canadian end of the Ram and Sherman story.
