Development history
The Hummel married the heavy 150 mm sFH 18 to the Geschutzwagen III/IV hull, giving each Panzer division a battery that could deliver heavy indirect fire and keep up with an advance. Hitler disliked the name, ordering it dropped in 1944, but the vehicle was well liked by crews for its stable platform and generous working space. Around 700 were built and they served from Kursk to the final battles in Germany.
