Development history
The Starr (rigid) version deleted the gun recoil cradle and bolted the PaK 39 straight to the hull front, saving weight, cost and machining hours at the price of transmitting recoil into the structure. Trials showed the mounting worked but strained the hull and unsettled the crew, and the war ended with only around ten finished. It is included as a late-war production experiment rather than a service type.
