Development history

The NC27 (NC1) was Renault's attempt to keep the FT relevant: the same small two-man layout on a sprung suspension with a more powerful engine, roughly doubling road speed and range. France bought only a handful for trials, preferring to rebuild its FT stock, but Japan took some as the Otsu-Gata Sensha and used them in China, while Poland and other buyers evaluated the type. Its running gear fed directly into the Char D1 line.
