Development history
Object 906 was faster, better armed and better shaped than the PT-76 it was to replace, with an 85 mm gun and water-jet propulsion. Trials from 1963 were promising, but the army was by then more interested in missile-armed light vehicles and in the BMP concept, and the programme was closed. Its running gear influenced the BMD airborne family.
