Development history

The EBR carried four road wheels and four steel-rimmed centre wheels that were lowered only off-road, an oscillating turret of the type later used on the AMX-13, and driving positions front and rear so it could leave a contact as fast as it arrived. Around 1,200 were built and they served French forces in Indochina, Algeria and Africa until 1987, and with Portugal and Tunisia. It is a wheeled armoured car rather than a tank and is recorded as such here.
