Development history
The Sturmtiger took the 380 mm Raketenwerfer originally designed for anti-submarine work and mounted it in a huge armoured box on a Tiger I chassis. Each rocket weighed around 350 kg and its blast could collapse an entire building; the vehicle carried only fourteen and needed a crane to reload. Eighteen were completed and distributed to three assault mortar companies, which fought in the Warsaw Uprising, the Ardennes and the Reich's final defence. As a weapon it was a curiosity; as an engineering artefact it is one of the most extreme vehicles of the war.
