Development history

Originally designated IS-8, the T-10 combined heavy IS-type armour with a more powerful 122 mm gun and improved fire control. Slow-firing and hard to supply, it was overtaken by main battle tanks within a decade and the heavy tank category was abolished in 1960 - though T-10s sat in reserve storage until the 1990s.
