Development history
Factory No. 185 answered the same 1938 requirement as the Kirov works, producing a longer eight-wheel hull. The prototype fought briefly in the Winter War as a recovery and support vehicle. Plans to rebuild it as the SU-100Y assault gun were the only part of the programme carried forward.
