Development history

Intended to give the T-26 infantry tank the road speed of the BT series, the T-46 carried a dual drive that made it complex and expensive. Four vehicles were completed in 1936-37 before the programme was dropped; surviving hulls were dug in as bunkers in the defence of Leningrad.
