Development history
The T26E4 mounted the high-velocity 90 mm T15E1, a gun with performance close to the German 8.8 cm KwK 43. One vehicle reached the 3rd Armored Division in Germany in 1945, where the unit welded captured Panther glacis plate and boiler steel to its front, making it dangerously nose-heavy but formidable. It fought a handful of actions in the last weeks of the war. Twenty-five were completed in total and the type never entered general service; it is recorded here as a limited-production experiment.
