Development history

Designed for infantry support in China and for shipping to remote island garrisons, the Ha-Go was reliable and mobile in soft ground. Its armour could be pierced by heavy machine guns and its 37 mm gun could not hurt a Sherman, so late-war engagements at places like Saipan were one-sided.
