Development history
Built at the end of 1940 as a testbed for the next heavy tank, the KV-220 carried a new large turret with the 85 mm F-30. Its supercharged engine was unreliable and was swapped for a standard V-2K. Rearmed with a KV-1 turret, the vehicle was issued to the 124th Tank Brigade and fought in the defence of Leningrad, where it was lost in early 1942.
