Development history
The Saint-Chamond used a petrol-electric transmission that made it unusually easy to drive, and mounted a genuine 75 mm field gun rather than a short-barrelled weapon. Its hull overhung the short track base badly, so it grounded on rough terrain and was often used as mobile artillery rather than as an assault tank.
